Setting up the printer

Overview

The NCSQ has a black and white networked printer. Once it is set up you can print wirelessly. The setup is a two step process: first you install the driver and then you setup the printer. The steps will vary depending on your operating system.

The printer is of type: Samsung ML-2010

Steps for Windows XP

  1. Download the driver.
  2. Run the driver program that you just downloaded
  3. Go to Control Panel.
  4. Click on 'Printers and Faxes'.
  5. Go to File/Add Printer or click on 'Add a printer'.
  6. Click Next
  7. Choose a 'network printer' and click next.
  8. Choose 'Connect to a printer on the internet or on a home or office network:'.
  9. Enter: 'http://nc-print-srv:631/printers/ml2010' click Next
  10. Manufacturer is: 'Samsung'. Printers is 'Samsung ML-2010 Series'.
  11. click OK

Steps for Linux

On Linux you don't have to install the driver because it is already part of the kernel.

  1. go to add a printer, type other
  2. printer is type samsung
  3. ipp://nc-print-srv:631/printers/ml2010
  4. driver is samsung, ml-2010, foomatic +gdi
